Cameron Highlands

Tapah, PerakBrinchang

60 km · Mar – Sep · Moderate

Federal Route 59 out of the heat into tea. Mist, terraces, and a hill town that still smells like a colonial weekend. The climb is the drive.

Viewpoints

  • Bharat tea estate

The terraces. Stop once; the next pull-off is the same photograph.

    48 km

  • Brinchang night market

The town. The road delivered you. Eat, then sleep cool.

Road
Two-lane, well used, often wet. Landslips after monsoon rain. Lorries on the lower ramps. Fog on the tea once you are up.

Tips

  • 01

    Up from Tapah

Route 59 is the old climb. The Simpang Pulai way is faster and less of a road.

  • 02

    Leave the heat

Start early. The lowland is already a different country by nine.

Tapah at 7:10, tea terraces in cloud by nine. Route 59, not Simpang Pulai. The climb is the whole argument. Brinchang was cold enough for a jacket.

A slip had one lane below Ringlet. Waited forty minutes. The highlands were still worth the delay. Do not do this at night after rain.
